Many health and care professionals develop an interest in educational research from their experience of teaching and learning – sometimes from their experience as students, often from their experience as teachers as part of their clinical work, working alongside students, trainees and junior members of staff. The experience of developing teaching skills, and dealing with learners at all stages, often leads people to question the processes of eduction – what works, for whom, and why?

Opportunities across professional groups
The route from clinician to researcher varies for different professions, and in this section we describe some of the routes into ClinEdR. These include pathways supported by the NIHR.
For some professions there are more opportunities, and fewer barriers, than for others. One of the goals of the Incubator is to identify and challenge some of these barriers, and improve the equality of opportunity to develop a career in ClinEdR, for all professionals.
Information on specific professional groups is available below, or through the links in the menu at the top of the page.
